News and Information on Birding Sites Throughout Thailand and the Andaman

The Asian Waterbird Census is being held from the 11-31 of January 2014. The Bird Conservation Society of Thailand is asking for input from any birders who may be visiting wetlands, saltpans or any coastal areas in an attempt to gain as much coverage from around the nation as possible.

Sites which are of interest in the Andaman region include the following:

– Sapan Hin
– Laem Hin and Sapam Bay
– Ao Makham Bay
– Ao Maphrao Bay
– Laguna Hotel Complex (and outlying areas)

– Ao Phang Nga National Park
– Thai Muang National Park
– Baan Bang Paht
– Laem Pakarang
– Kuraburi Swamp
– Klong Sok River

– Talae Noi Waterfowl Sanctuary, Phattalung
– Koh Libong, Trang
– Haad Chao Mai National Park, Trang
– Pak Meng Beach and Estuaries, Trang
– Haad Manao, Narathiwat
– Ao Pattani Bay, Pattani

– Doubtless there are plenty of other sites as well; I’ve just named a few of the “biggies” as examples.

Forms can be downloaded from here.

Completed forms should be sent to

Although the census only spans a time frame of roughly three weeks, as Mr. Phil Round pointed out, any information garnered over the next few months will be appreciated.

-Enjoy your birding and happy hunting!
