  Of all the owls in Thailand, this one has to be one of the freakiest. The Bay Owl is a strange creature, with a large, pale face and beady, almost alien-looking eyes. It is sometimes seen perched on vertical vines or branches in thickets in the forest, an act which underlines its dexterous prowess.

Ian Dugdale sent me a picture of a Bay Owl he photographed at Ton Sai Waterfall on the 3rd while on a night trek through the forest with “Games” Punjapa Petsri, Nick Sampson and Paul Carter. The National Parks department of Thailand (DNP) has rescinded their “one-day multi-site ” deal. The now defunct deal allowed tourists to pay an entry fee at any national park and use the tickets to enter another national park, provided it is all done on the same day of within 24 hours of purchasing the original ticket.
