News and Information on Birding Sites Throughout Thailand and the Andaman

The Chumporn Raptor Festival is still a few weeks away but many of the big names from the event have arrived and are setting up shop on the two main landmarks, Pencil Hill and Radar Hill.

Dr. Robert DiCandido from New York and Mr. Chukiat Nualsri are based on Pencil Hill and posted their first report a few days ago. Only two Japanese Sparrowhawk and a single Besra were spotted along with a number of other migrants (Openbills, bee eaters, swifts, etc.) and the weather has been up to its usual moody self which lends to a rather poor count.

This year the birders are going hi-tech: a Facebook page will be setup which should give real-time information on whats happening at the site and a weekly or bi-weekly report will be posted in PDF format (Adobe Acrobat Reader freindly) for those who are interested but have less time to keep up on the FB page.

Those who are interested in helping with the count or just visiting the site are welcome to contact us for details to the location.

This sounds like a lot of fun!
